Landslide by Dettifoss

A large landslide has fallen from the cliffs of Jökulsárgljúfur, close to the viewing platform just northwest of Dettifoss. Due to the weather conditions, it was not possible to accurately estimate the extent of the landslide. Rangers will assess the situation further tomorrow and we will send out more information then. There is snow in the area and both the roads and the hiking trails are very slippery. We advise visitors against visiting Dettifoss at this time.
