Landslide by Dettifoss

This summer, a large landslide occurred from the rock formation above the viewing platform near Dettifoss. An assessment of the situation is still ongoing, and work is underway to reposition the trails in the area. Therefore, the trail down to Fosshvammur and along the edge of the cliff has been closed, along with the northern part of the large viewing platform north of Dettifoss. For safety reasons, it is very important that visitors do not go beyond the marked trails and respect the closures where they are in place.
