Skaftárstofa is the Vatnajökull National Park visitors centre, located near Kirkjubæjarklaustur at Sönghóll by road number 1.  It serves also as an information centre for the municipality of Skaftárhreppur. New exhibition has opened in the visitor centre, termed Life with Nature.

Skaftárstofa Visitor Centre is accessible for individuals with reduced mobility. A clear pathway is from the parking space to the entrance. The front door opens automatically and there is plenty of space to navigate indoors. The visitor centre has an accessible bathroom available to guests. Employees are always ready to help.
