Due to a rise in COVID-19 cases in Iceland, all Vatnajökull National Park’s visitor centres will be closed from 24th of December until further notice. This includes: Skaftárstofa in Kirkjubæjarklaustur, Skaftafell visitor centre, Gamlabúð in Höfn and Gljúfrastofa in Ásbyrgi. Snæfellsstofa is already closed for the winter season.

The campsite in Skaftafell is also closed.

Opening hours in the new year will be announced later.

Services available:

Toilets next to the visitor centre in Skaftafell will be open. Staff will clean and sanitize throughout the day.

Toilets at Jökulsárlón will be open each day, although shorter opening hours can be expected on December 24th - 25th, and December 31st - January 1st.
