Ranger cooperation between Vatnajökull NP and the Environmental Agency

Vatnajökull National Park and the Environmental Agency of Iceland recently signed a cooperation agreement regarding supervision and visitor information this summer in the south-central highland of Iceland. A shared ranger station is now in operation in Hrauneyjar (Google Maps location), with daily ranger presence from 9 AM to 5 PM. Rangers will also operate in the field, with special emphasis on preventing off-road driving which has been an on-going problem for many years. But first and foremost they will welcome visitors in the area and provide them with all the necessary information for an enjoyable experience in the area.
