Easter in Vatnajökull National Park

Due to the current assembly limits, Vatnajökull National Park's Vistor Centres will be closed over Easter. Restrictions do not affect outdoor activities and traveling in the national park. Restrooms are open in Skaftafell and Jökulsárgljúfur. Vatnajökull National Park nevertheless encourages people to follow the government's recommendation to limit travel and take care of disease control if passing through.

The nature of the country is fragile in the spring when there is an exchange of frost and warmer weather. It is therefore important that visitors stay within footpaths and respect road closures. For information on weather and road condition please visit the websites of SafeTravel, the Icelandic Road Administration and the Meteorological Office.

When the summer gets closer and more vaccinations have been implemented, there will hopefully be more travel opportunities. The National Park draws attention to its hiking maps where one can find variety of routes. The current assembly limits can therefore provide a good opportunity to plan summer outdoor adventures.
