Another return for Eckerd College students

For the third year running Vatnajökull National Park has received a group of students from Eckerd College in Florida, USA. In total, it is the fourth time a group from Eckerd College arrives in Iceland, but their visit is a part of a volunteer program that Eckerd students participate in as a part of their studies.

This year, as the two year before, the group is based in Skaftafell. Their main task this year is to tear apart an old bridge deck and prepare the timber to be used in hiking trails and foot bridges. Other tasks will include conservation work in old farm ruins that are part of the important cultural heritage in Skaftafell, and some more preparation work for the summer.

The visit was jointly organized by Eckerd College, The Environment Agency of Iceland and Vatnajökull National Park.
