Hiking trails: Most hiking trails are still covered with snow.

Roads: Road 861 through Ásbyrgi is almost completely free of snow/ice and passable for most vehicles. Roads 862 and 864 (between Ásbyrgi and Dettifoss) are both impassable and will remain closed until summer (late May / early June).

Ásbyrgi campground: The campsites are partially covered with snow and the ground is frozen. The campground will remain closed until the ground has thawed and dried out. It is estimated that it will open at the end of April / beginning of May.

Vesturdalur campground/Hljóðaklettar: Plenty of snow in the area. Hiking trails difficult, road impassable and campground closed. Area probably accessible by the end of May.
