Services in Vatnajökull National Park not affected by Múlakvísl
The glacial outburst flood in Múlakvísl has interrupted many travel plans, but services in Vatnajökull National Park have not been affected. There is one minor exception to this: The daily interpretive walk with a ranger has to be cancelled on Wednesdays, and will be so until a new bridge has been built over Múlakvísl.
Park rangers based on highland ranger stations are available for further information about road conditions. For those travelling on road F208 to and from Landmannalaugar it is worth visiting rangers at Eldgjá who, in the period of July 14 – August 15, are available next to the car park daily between 11 and 15. Park rangers in Skaftafell are also ready to give detailed information regarding roads and alternative options for those affected by events in Múlakvísl.
